China’s Excavator Exports Surge 32% in March; Taiyuan Heavy’s Custom Hydraulic Excavator Launches in South America

2026-04-30

The global construction and mining equipment sector sees strong momentum from Chinese manufacturers this week, with the latest export data and overseas product launches highlighting China’s growing influence in the international heavy machinery market.

According to the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA), China’s excavator exports reached 13,301 units in March 2026, representing a 32% year-on-year increase. For the first quarter (Q1 2026), total excavator exports hit 33,757 units, rising 36.1% YoY. The robust growth reflects strong demand across Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America, as infrastructure development and mining activities accelerate in emerging markets.

In a key overseas milestone, Taiyuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (TZCO) announced the official commissioning of its TZ215EXD hydraulic excavator at a customer site in South America on April 21, 2026. The model is a custom-built solution designed specifically for South America’s challenging geological conditions and strict environmental regulations.

The TZ215EXD features a low-emission, noise-reduced engine with noise levels 8% below industry standards, meeting stringent local environmental requirements. It comes standard with a FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) cabin for operator safety, an optimized human-machine interface for local operating habits, and a remote monitoring system for real-time fuel consumption tracking and fault warnings.

Industry analysts note that Chinese excavator brands are no longer competing on price alone but are increasingly offering application-specific, high-reliability machinery tailored to regional market needs. With continued investment in R&D, after-sales service networks, and localized production, Chinese heavy machinery manufacturers are expected to further expand their global market share in 2026.
